On Friday, September 14, 2001,New York Governor George E. Pataki urged all New Yorkers and concerned Americans who wish to support the World Trade Center emergency response and victim support effort to make a contribution to the newly established New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund.
The new fund will be coordinated with the September 11th Fund, established by the United Way of New York City and the New York Community Trust, and the Twin Towers Fund established by the City of New York.
"The outpouring of donations from across New York and throughout the nation has been truly inspiring," Governor Pataki said. "We have established the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund to help accommodate these donations and I urge all those who wish to contribute to contact our new toll-free donation hotline or send a donation through the mail."
